The G39 artists’ annual exhibition, Moon Season, inspired by the Mid-Autumn Festival, is currently on display in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. This collection of works evokes nostalgic childhood memories of the festival, featuring paintings by renowned artists alongside contributions from the Spring Color Painting Club’s young members. A key highlight of the exhibition is Tower of Light, an installation created by artisan Nguyen Van Tinh and craftsmen from the Phu Vinh bamboo and rattan weaving village. The installation consists of 60 lanterns in various shapes, reflecting the village’s deep cultural heritage with bamboo and rattan crafts.

Painter Le Thiet Cuong introduced how the bright colors and innocent qualities of the lantern paintings encapsulate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a celebration where children are the focal point. The paintings blend themes of light, sound, and joy, bringing to life the warmth and nostalgia of the festival.

“The Mid-Autumn Festival is not only a festival for children, but children are the center of the Full Moon Festival. Therefore, the lantern painting works are a unique highlight of the exhibition,” said Cuong.

According to him, the colors in the statues and paintings are filled with sound and light, soft, pure, and joyful enough to take viewers back to the childhood festival and relive the passionate youth.

Among the notable works displayed are Autumn Sun by Nguyen Thanh Quang and Moon Dance by Binh Nhi, which further highlight the joyful and evocative atmosphere of the season.

The exhibition runs until September 20 at the Center for Culture and Arts, located at 22 Hang Buom Street, Hanoi, offering visitors a glimpse into the vibrant spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival through art and culture.
